Adoption Guidelines

Loving Care Cat Rescue strives to place its kitties in stable, forever homes.  The following adoption guidelines are designed with this objective in mind.  We encourage you to review them before completing and submitting an application.

Applicant

We require that the person adopting the kitty be the person who completes the application. If you are completing the application on someone else’s behalf (perhaps someone less comfortable with technology), be sure that all the answers you submit pertain to that person (their phone number, their email address, their reference). We do not support the giving of pets as gifts because the kitties and the adopter need to meet to see if they are a good match.

Age

We require that adopters be 18 or older.

Living Situation

We will either confirm that you own your home via online search or speak with your landlord to confirm pets are allowed under the conditions of your lease. If you live in another person’s home (parent, relative friend), we will need to speak with that person to ensure pets are allowed.

Reference

We ask for at least one personal reference. This CANNOT be a family member, spouse, partner, boyfriend, or girlfriend. This should be someone who is familiar with you and your ability to care for your pets.

Current and Previous Pets

LCCR, as many other rescues do, feels that annual wellness exams and current vaccines are an integral part of the health care plan of a cat. Therefore, we discuss the history of care for kitties that you have had or currently have with your vet.

God Parent/Pet Guardian

We ask you to provide the name and number of the person who will care for your adopted kitty should you become unable to do so. We ask that if this person is a spouse or partner that you consider naming an alternate godparent … just in case.
