Surrender

Surrendering an Owned Cat or Kitten

Loving Care Cat Rescue (LCCR) understands that there are circumstances when you must surrender a kitty. Below are some considerations before surrendering a kitty.

  • There are free websites such as those listed below to assist with finding a new home for a kitty, rather than surrendering to a shelter.
  • Don’t rush. Take time to find the kitty the best new home.
  • Increase the kitty’s adoptability by having her/him spayed/neutered, groomed, and vaccinated.
  • Do not advertise that animals are free. Too often, free ads attract individuals who will abuse, torture and kill them, such as bait animals for dog fight training.
  • Tell friends, family, coworkers, and your personal social networks that the kitty needs a new home. The more people who know help is needed, the better the chances of finding the kitty a new family.
  • No one knows the kitty better than you do! While interviewing potential adopters, be sure to share expectations for the kitty’s new home and be sure to ask questions to identify a home that will be a good fit.
  • It is the responsibility of pet owners to disclose any bite history to potential adopters.
  • Please, never abandon a kitty, or any animal for that matter! If the situation is desperate, call or email the humane society for assistance.

We would like to help everyone in need, but our ability to do so is based solely on foster availability. To contact us about surrendering a kitty, email lovingcarecatrescue@gmail.com.
