A cat rescue organization serving the Central Pennsylvania area is celebrating its ten-year
anniversary. Loving Care Cat Rescue (LCCR) received its 501c3 on June 14, 2016. Its
founder and director, Lisa Snyder, actively engaged in TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return), saw a need
for resources to help friendly cats find loving homes.
Over the last ten years, more than 7,000 cats have been saved by the all-volunteer, foster-based organization, which allows rescued cats to thrive in safe indoor homes temporarily until they find their forever homes.
After ten years, LCCR has more than 50 foster homes and 100 volunteers, and averages
between 700 – 800 adoptions each year. Every adoptable cat/kitten is spayed/neutered and
microchipped, and has received age-appropriate vaccines, FIV/FeLV testing, dewormer,
flea/tick preventatives, and any medical or emergency treatment needed.
LCCR has dedicated resources for two serious medical conditions; Feline Infectious Peritonitis
(FIP) and Advanced Wound Care. FIP is a viral disease caused by certain strains of the feline
coronavirus.
Once considered a death sentence, early diagnosis and treatment changed this
prognosis. LCCR has successfully treated more than 30 cats since 2021. LCCR’s Project
Wound Care, launched in 2024, administers advanced wound care to cats by repurposing
expired, donated, opened, or discounted human wound care products.
“LCCR is dedicated to providing loving care to every cat that comes through the rescue,
regardless of their circumstances or medical condition,” said founder/director, Lisa Snyder.
“Our achievements over the past ten years are directly attributed to the abundance of
dedication and support from fosters, volunteers, adopters, partners, and supporters,” she
added.
