Maurice’s Story
Maurice’s adoption gave him more than a new family. It gave him a second chance at life. Shortly after his adoption, Maurice was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis, or FIP. In the past, the prognosis for cats with this virus was bleak.
However, new treatments derived from the drugs used to treat COVID-19 in humans have proved helpful in the fight against FIP. LCCR immediately contacted FIP Warriors 5.0 for guidance, and Maurice started treatment within hours.
“My cat, Arnold, passed in December of 2022. I didn’t think I was going to be able to adopt again for a long, long time, but I saw this little guy needed a home… After Maurice’s diagnosis, I sat back and wondered why I had to deal with the heartbreak of another horrible diagnosis right after the death of my cat. But then it occurred to me that Arnold, from the other side of the bridge, sent Maurice to me because he KNEW I’d save him.”
With swift treatment and a determined family behind him, Maurice joined the ranks of the cats cured of FIP. A year later, he’s still his healthy, quirky self.
“I don’t know how the stars aligned, but Maurice and I were meant to be. He’s the perfect cat with the perfect amount of quirks. And I thank God every day that my late kitty, Arnold, set me up with him. I know that to be true more than anything.”
