Stuffing’s Story
Meet Stuffing, a remarkable testament to a kitten’s resilience! Once deformed and unable to walk properly due to congenital defects in his rear ankles, he is now living life to the fullest. Found with his siblings in Harrisburg just before Thanksgiving, Stuffing’s condition forced him to walk on his ankles rather than the pads of his feet, causing pain and anatomical issues.
His case was unprecedented for LCCR and ProjectCatWoundCare, requiring multiple specialists and orthopedic surgeons. In December 2024, Stuffing underwent surgery led by Dr Gayle Jaeger, DVM, MSPVM, DACVS and her team at Pet Emergency Treatment & Specialties (PETS), which successfully realigned his legs. After facing complications, including swelling that resulted in the amputation of his left paw, he received a skin graft that healed beautifully.
His foster caregiver tirelessly collaborated with the veterinary team, ensuring Stuffing received the necessary care and adjustments to his custom braces which included weekly visits to VCA Smoketown Animal Hospital. After nearly four months, his right leg was positioned correctly, enabling him to walk and run like any healthy kitten.
Now, Stuffing has been adopted into a loving forever home, where he is cherished and supported as he continues to grow. This is a truly happy ending for Stuffing and all who have cared for him at LCCR & ProjectCatWoundCare.
