About ProjectCatWoundCare

About

Project Cat Wound Care (PCWC) is a special arm within Loving Care Cat Rescue (LCCR) in South Central Pennsylvania.

We provide advanced wound care to animals in need by repurposing donated, opened, or
expired human grade wound care products. Most animals referred to PCWC had failed original therapy and were anticipating amputation or euthanasia as their next procedure; however, those procedures were not needed after successful wound care.

Cindi Scheib, BSN, RN, Human Wound Care Specialist and foster for LCCR, was routinely asked to aid in wound care for injured cats within the rescue.

PCWC was officially established in 2024 as Cindi became involved with more complex wound cases. In 2024 she partnered with a wound care company and used its Transforming Powder Dressing to heal a large facial wound on a cat named Jessie Lynn.

Cindi presented her case study and poster of Jessie Lynn at the human International Symposium of Advanced Wound Care in Las Vegas in October 2024. She has successfully managed diverse wounds from various
etiologies. She has treated animal wounds due to trauma, friction, pressure, punctures, bites, cellulitis, infected abscesses, surgical incision dehiscence, cancerous skin lesions, moisture -related incontinence, micro-vascular compromised, amputation sites, and surgical skin grafts.

PCWC is 100% volunteer and does not charge fees for assistance but gladly accepts donations. This project depends on financial donations as well as donated, expired, or discounted products, and all donations go directly to animal wound care.

Vision

Future aspirations include providing continued advanced wound care to all animals in need so that they can recover from their wounds with positive outcomes. ProjectCatWoundCare has already assisted with wounds in other animals, including dogs and horses. All animals will be considered for treatment. This project does require donated, expired, opened, or deeply discounted products – and volunteers. Cindi sees a vision to educate and mentor other animal care providers in the practice of advanced wound care treatment. Wounds assessment and care treatment is also possible via teleconference. Cindi sees opportunity for other volunteer Wound Care Specialists to join this project. This could exponentially expand the geographic area of helping wounded animals well beyond the Central Pennsylvania region.

There is no fee for this service as this is 100% volunteer, but donations are gladly accepted. All donated proceeds go to funding wound care supplies. This project depends on donated, expired, or discounted products. Please consider donating money and/or supplies to Loving Care Cat Rescue (a nonprofit 501 (c) (3)) so that ProjectCatWoundCare can thrive . All proceeds go directly to obtaining necessary wound care items.
